From the Pastor’s Pen – March 18, 2021

The Management Team met this past Sunday and approved the re-opening of Eastminster for Sunday Worship beginning on March 21st.

It has been one year since Ontario went into its first lockdown.  Apart from half-a-dozen Services in the early Fall, we have had the unusual situation of not being able to gather for worship for most of the past year.  About all that can be said is that it has been a strange, strange year.

I am pleased to announce, however, that as of this coming Sunday, March 21st, we may again gather for in-person Worship.  We will do our best to keep you safe in terms of seating arrangements, an insistence on masks being worn, and complying with the basic practices that we have become accustomed to in stores and restaurants in our area.

We look forward to having you worship with us again as long as you are comfortable in doing so.  If, however, you are experiencing any cold, flu, or covid-like symptoms, we do hope that you will stay home to protect others.  Our online Service will continue to be available for the foreseeable future.

One new question that greeters will ask upon arrival concerns travel outside the Hastings-Prince Edward Health Region.  There are few concerns at the moment about significant parts of Ontario but a few areas are current Covid-19 hotspots and are zoned as “grey” or are in lockdown.  If you or a member of your household has gone to the Toronto, Peel, Lambton, Sudbury, or Thunder Bay regions over the preceding seven days, we respectfully ask that you also would not come to church and use our online Service for worship.  This new guideline is due to the rise of the more contagious, variant viruses and avoiding contacts after being in a hotspot is one way we can protect our friends.

With those caveats, we look forward to welcoming you back to the Eastminster sanctuary and trust that the opportunity to gather again will bring us closer to God.  Unlike the Fall, there will be no pre-registration for Services required (with the possible exception of Easter Sunday).

Let us worship God again, together.
