Serve
Why do we serve?
Serving others is a way to practically show the love of God to others. It is also deeply satisfying.
At Eastminster, there are many ways to serve. If you love to cook, you can volunteer in the Open Door Café. If you like gardening, the Property Team might be a great fit. If you have been blessed financially, you can share what you have with others in need.
Ways to serve
-
Hospitality Team
The first people that you meet at Eastminster on Sunday are members of the Hospitality Committee. Members of this team greet at the door, usher, look after requests, and generally work behind the scenes to keep the Sunday Service running smoothly.
-
Choir
Have musical gifts? Join the choir or the team of technicians that run the sound board. Contact the church office for more information.
-
Gleaners Food Bank
Eastminster supports the Gleaners Food Bank. Each week, people are invited to bring non-perishable food items to the church to help those who are in need. At times, the Food Bank has special requests when they are low on certain foods and we let people know through our Sunday bulletin and weekly email, Eastminster ConnecT.
-
Pastoral Care Team
Eastminster’s Pastoral Care Team is a group of twelve volunteers who visit members who are in hospital, retirement homes or nursing homes, as well as those who are at home and no longer able to attend church. They visit about once a month to provide support, devotions, and friendship. They also provide a liaison between these members and the Pastoral Care Minister and the Lead Minister Rev. David McMaster. They meet once a month under the direction of the Pastoral Care Minister.
-
Open Door Café
The Open Door Café is open every Wednesday from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm, serving a hot meal to anyone who wants to come. Serving together on this team is a fun and rewarding time.
-
Property Team
The Property Team is a group of men and women who ensure that the church building is in good order. The team is involved in every facet of the upkeep of the building including: repairs, painting, replacing floors, plumbing, electric, safety issues, snow and ice removal, gardening etc. They do some repairs themselves, while others are delegated to experts. The property team recognizes that this building is the Lord’s, and they endeavour to have the best possible work done for the best possible price so that the congregation can continue to meet in a safe and reliable building.

Donate
Sharing financial resources is yet another way that you can serve others. By sharing what you have been given, you express dependence on God and care for others.
